Wigan's newest brewery located in a garage conversion in Standish. The name of the brewery is derived from its location - at the top of 'Prospect Hill'.
The company consists of Patsy Slevin at the helm and drayman Dave Grimshaw, with John Slevin at the back pushing with loads of unpaid help, including 348 relatives and friends - all willing to be 'testers' for the new beers. Patsy & John have a simple mission statement - "to bring you imaginative but traditional Real Ale".
Patsy and John are relative newcomers to the brewing trade - they only started training to become brewers in January 2007. From March 2007, Patsy learned her trade at Bank Top Brewery from where she subsequently acquired a 5-barrel plant in April 2007.
By August 2007, the first beers were being brewed by the Prospect Brewery - 'Pioneer' and 'Gold Rush'. By the end of August, these first beers had been delivered and being drank in local pubs - initially, the Dog and Partridge in Standish and the Crown at Worthington.
It is intended to name their beers after 'prospecting' related themes. Their third beer - "Silver Tally" - was launched at the Crown at Worthington's Beer Festival in October 2007
