Patsy Slevin is the owner and head brewer (or brewster, as female brewers are more commonly known). Patsy learned her trade at Bank Top Brewery from where she subsequently acquired a 5-barrel plant in April 2007.
The name of the brewery is derived from its original location - at the top of 'Prospect Hill' in the garage of a private residence belonging to Patsy's mother-in-law (Beth Slevin). .
By August 2007, their first beers were being brewed - 'Pioneer' and 'Gold Rush'. The beers were initially delivered to the Dog and Partridge in Standish and the Crown at Worthington.
In January 2010, the brewery moved to it's current location and upgraded to a 12.5 barrel plant. The 'old' plant was acquired by Raw Brewery in Derbyshire and is currently still in use.
Prospect beers are highly acclaimed and have won several awards at both regional and national levels.
In June 2012, Prospect acquired their first pub - The Silver Tally in nearby Shevington Moor. The pub was originally called the Forresters Arms but was renamed after Prospect's signature beer.
